Pirates Move Three Points Clear In Diski Challenge Title Race

Orlando Pirates strengthened their push for the DStv Diski Challenge title with a convincing 3-0 victory over Orbit College at Olympia Park Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Following this important win, the Buccaneers remain at the top of the standings with 57 points from 23 matches, opening a three-point gap over Mamelodi Sundowns, who sit second with 54 points after beating Marumo Gallants on Saturday in their 24th game of the season.
Simphiwe Masilela and Samukelo Zikalala found the back of the net in the first half, before Will Henson sealed the victory with a third goal after the break, ensuring maximum points for the Buccaneers.
Pirates came into the match full of confidence after being awarded three points and three goals during the week, when Polokwane City were found guilty of fielding two ineligible players in their fixture against the Buccaneers on 25 October 2025.
As they continue their quest to secure their first Diski Challenge title since the competition’s inception in 2014, Pirates now turn their attention to a crucial upcoming encounter against their fierce rivals Kaizer Chiefs, in the Soweto Derby next weekend.
The Buccaneers will be eager to bounce back after losing the first-round clash against Amakhosi, while also aiming to extend their impressive run of form.
In other results on Sunday, Chiefs secured a narrow 3-2 victory over Magesi at Dobsonville Stadium, while TS Galaxy claimed a 1-0 win against Richards Bay at Princess Magogo Stadium.
Meanwhile, AmaZulu picked up an away 2-0 victory against Polokwane City at Peter Mokaba Stadium, and Stellenbosch edged Chippa United 1-0 at Idas Valley Stadium to wrap up the day’s action.
