Siwelele Wants To Keep Two Forgotten Chiefs Outcasts

Siwelele coach Lehlohonolo Seema wants to retain on-loan Kaizer Chiefs duo Samkelo Zwane and Happy Mashiane for the 2026/27 season, despite both players enduring a combined total of seven appearances this campaign.

The duo joined Siwelele at the start of the season on loan from Kaizer Chiefs for the current campaign, hoping to revive their careers after struggling for opportunities at Naturena.

However, their situation has not changed much throughout the season, especially for Mashiane, who has found minutes extremely difficult to come by despite being available for selection.

Zwane has featured in only six matches for Siwelele this season. His last appearance came during the club’s Matchday 20 fixture in March, and since then, he has missed the last 10 games.

Mashiane’s situation has been even tougher. The left-back has played just one match all season, with his lone appearance coming in September last year, despite not suffering any injury setbacks.

Despite their struggles for regular game time, Seema revealed that the club would still be interested in keeping both players beyond this season should the opportunity arise.

“Definitely, we would love to have them next season if they are available,” said Seema.

“But I cannot say much about them because they are not our players, and it’s not our decision to make. So, we will have to wait and see what happens with them.”

The future of both Amakhosi academy graduates remains uncertain, as they are expected to return to Chiefs once their loan deals officially expire after the final match of the season.

Zwane and Mashiane will be hoping to feature one last time for Siwelele when the club travels to Polokwane to face Sekhukhune United in their final league match of the campaign on Saturday.

That encounter could potentially mark the end of their short and difficult spell at Siwelele before their temporary contracts expire at the conclusion of the season.
