Ouaddou Destined For The PSL Coach Of The Season Award

Miguel Cardoso, Abdeslam Ouaddou, Cédric Kaze, and Khalil Ben Youssef have all been nominated for the prestigious PSL Coach of the Season award.
Among the nominees, Ouaddou enters as the heavy favorite after guiding Orlando Pirates to a historic league title in his debut season with the club, having joined from Marumo Gallants.
The league triumph marked Pirates’ first championship in 14 years. Under the Moroccan tactician’s guidance, the Buccaneers also secured a remarkable domestic treble by adding the MTN8 and the Carling Knockout Cup to their trophy cabinet.
Cardoso, who claimed this award in the 2024/25 season with Mamelodi Sundowns, saw his side finish second in the Betway Premiership after Pirates pipped them to the title by a single point.
This marks the first time in nine years that the Brazilians failed to win the domestic league, ending their dominant run of eight consecutive titles.
Despite the domestic setback, Sundowns still captured the continental holy grail, lifting the CAF Champions League title after defeating Moroccan giants AS FAR.
Meanwhile, Kaze and Ben Youssef—who parted ways with Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the season as they were the co-coaches—earned their nominations after leading Amakhosi to a third-place finish, securing qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup.
Both tacticians have since moved on to new challenges, with Kaze taking over as the head coach of Sekhukhune United and Ben Youssef joining Durban City.
The PSL award ceremony will take place on 27 July.
