Chiefs Confirm Lilepo Transfer
Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that Glody Lilepo has been sold to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi after the two clubs agreed on a transfer fee.
Lilepo did not feature in any of Amakhosi’s pre-season matches in Spain, as he was angling for a move away from Naturena.
With the Democratic Republic of Congo international sealing his transfer to Libya, Chiefs moved quickly to replace him by acquiring Langelihle Phili from Stellenbosch FC.
“Democratic Republic of Congo-born forward Glody Makabi Lilepo has completed a move from Kaizer Chiefs to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi, following an agreement on the transfer fee between the two clubs,” Chiefs said in a statement.
“The Club wishes Lilepo success in Libya and throughout the remainder of his football career.”
Lilepo originally joined Chiefs from French side Valenciennes in January during the second half of the 2024/25 season in a reported R9-million transfer.
He leaves the Soweto giants having registered 15 goals and five assists in 56 appearances, helping the team lift the Nedbank Cup during his time at the club.
A red card in the penultimate match of last season against AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium after he scored ruled him out of Chiefs’ 2026/27 season opener, where they secured a 3-1 victory against Kruger United at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.
