Zwane Named As Bafana Skipper
Mamelodi Sundowns kingpin Themba Zwane has been named as the captain of Bafana Bafana team that will face Uganda and South Sudan in the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
This is due to captain Ronwen Williams out injured while vice captain Percy Tau did not make the cut for this squad.
Coach Hugo Broos made the announcement to the team after dinner on Tuesday night to name Zwane as a skipper to will lead Bafana Bafana against Uganda at home at Orlando Stadium on Friday, 6 September (6pm), and away against South Sudan in their second AFCON qualifier on Tuesday, 10 September.
The 35-year-old Zwane has featured in 47 matches for Bafana Bafana, scoring 12 goals.
Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has a full squad available after Elias Mokwana arrived on Monday night, with Siyabonga Ngezana and Sphephelo Sithole joining the rest of the group on Tuesday morning.
