“Bigger Than Sundowns”: Kwinika Issues Rallying Cry As Chiefs Target Top Spot Against Richards Bay

Kaizer Chiefs defender Zitha Kwinika has emphasised the importance of winning games to maintain momentum as they prepare for their Betway Premiership clash against Richards Bay at Princess Magogo Stadium on Wednesday.

The Soweto giants return to league action after a week without a match, with their last outing coming against Mamelodi Sundowns, where the two sides played to a draw.

Amakhosi currently sit second on the table with seven points, having won two games and drawn one.

Kwinika stressed that Chiefs need to keep winning to maintain their momentum.

“To keep the momentum, I think we need to get positive results,” said Kwinika.

“I think that is the best way to keep the momentum – getting good results, mainly winning games. That is the only way to keep momentum, going into the environment with confidence.

“So, I think getting used to winning is important because it just creates an environment of winners, and winners get stronger by the day.”

Ahead of the clash against the Rich Boys, Kwinika anticipated a difficult encounter but said Chiefs were well prepared for the challenge.

“Obviously, Richards Bay are one of those teams that are difficult to play against,” said Kwinika.

“We give them our respect, but we also have our plan and our objectives. We know what to expect from them and are well prepared.

“I think this season we need a different mission – to recognise that the games where we need to collect points are important. That is why it is important for us to stay on top.

“So, we must win these games and not only focus on the big games or take these matches lightly when we are not in the right frame of mind.

“But now the attitude has changed. This is a big game, and I think it’s bigger than the one we played last weekend because these are very important points for us.

“So, the attitude shifts, and we grind even more. We will give them the respect they deserve, but work as hard as we can.”
