Beat Pirates Again! Sundowns Secure Deal For AmaZulu Star
Mamelodi Sundowns has confirmed the signing of Wandile Dube from AmaZulu.
As reported by Sportswire on Monday, Dube was on his way to join Sundowns, and the CAF Champions League champions have now confirmed the move.
“Mamelodi Sundowns have added another young talent to the roster! Yellow Nation, let’s welcome Wandile Dube to the Yellow Army,” the club confirmed in an official statement.
Dube leaves AmaZulu on a permanent transfer, signing a three-year deal with Masandawana.
The 22-year-old left-footed centre-back did not feature in the opening weeks of the current campaign, having made 10 senior appearances in all competitions for Usuthu last season after stepping up from their DStv Diski Challenge side.
Prior to completing his move to Tshwane, Dube had attracted keen interest from Orlando Pirates, who considered him a viable candidate to replace Mbekezeli Mbokazi. However, the Buccaneers missed out on his signature, mirroring their previous attempt to sign Siyanda Ndlovu before Sundowns secured him from Golden Arrows during the off-season.
The highly rated defender becomes the first AmaZulu player to join Mamelodi Sundowns since Argentine attacker Emiliano Tade made the switch from Durban.
Dube joins a star-studded group of new arrivals at Chloorkop this season, including Siyanda Ndlovu, Cassius Mailula, Antonio Van Wyk, Deano van Rooyen, Thabo Cele, Thabang Matuludi, and Tsiki Ntsabeleng.
