Post-Break Drama: Magesi, Real Native, and Highbury All Drop Points In MFC Weekend Shockers

The Motsepe Foundation Championship resumed this weekend following a two-week FIFA international break, with the top three sides, Magesi, Real Native and Highbury, all failing to secure victories.
Two matches took place on Friday, with log leaders Magesi held to a goalless draw by North-West University at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium. Despite dropping points, Magesi remained top of the standings with 14 points.
The other Friday fixture saw Lerumo Lions and Hope FC share the spoils after playing out a 1-1 draw at Dobsonville Stadium.
Saturday’s action saw Real Native suffer a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Hungry Lions at Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium. The result left Real Native in second place with 12 points.
Highbury also dropped points after being held to a 2-2 draw by Orbit College at Olympia Park Stadium. Despite the result, Highbury remained third in the standings with 11 points.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Midlands Wanderers secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Venda FC at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium. The final match of the day saw the University of Pretoria claim a 2-0 win over Leicesterford City at Tuks Stadium.
On Sunday, Gomora United recorded a 2-1 victory over Upington City at Malamulele Stadium in the weekend’s only fixture on the day.
The final match of Matchday Six is scheduled for Tuesday, with Cape Town City set to host The Bees at Athlone Stadium.
Cape Town City will be eager to return to winning ways after drawing against North-West University in their last match before the FIFA international break.
