Frosler Demands Wins As Chiefs Host Stellenbosch In Betway Premiership

Kaizer Chiefs defender Reeve Frosler has challenged Amakhosi to turn their draws into victories when they face Stellenbosch in Tuesday’s Betway Premiership clash at FNB Stadium.

Amakhosi head into the encounter looking to build on their unbeaten start to the league campaign after recording three wins and four draws in their opening seven matches before the FIFA international break.

Chiefs last tasted victory on 6 September, when they defeated Siwelele 3-2 at Dobsonville Stadium. However, they were unable to maintain that winning momentum, settling for consecutive draws against Polokwane City and Golden Arrows away from home.

Amakhosi’s most recent outing ended in a goalless draw against Arrows on 20 September, leaving them with just one point instead of the three they had been targeting.

As the Glamour Boys return to league action following the recently concluded two-week FIFA international break, Frosler insisted that the team had maintained its playing philosophy despite a series of draws in their opening matches.

“I think it’s been good in terms of trying to implement what we want to do,” he said.

“I don’t think we’ve lost our way this season. We’ve had a good number of draws, but we’re still trying to execute our game plan.

“We haven’t changed the way we want to play over the first seven games, and I think that’s a positive for us. Now, we need to take those draws and turn them into wins.”

While their unbeaten record is encouraging, defensive shortcomings have also contributed to Chiefs dropping points. Amakhosi conceded seven goals in their opening seven league matches before the break, highlighting the need to improve their defensive organisation and concentration.

Ahead of Tuesday’s meeting with Stellenbosch, the 28-year-old defender stressed the importance of learning from their mistakes, making the necessary adjustments and keeping more clean sheets.

“As a group, we look at ourselves and ask what went wrong when we conceded goals,” he added.

“We analyse the situations and identify what we need to work on.

“We have to make those small adjustments to ensure we keep clean sheets going forward and get the three points.”

With Stellenbosch visiting FNB Stadium, Chiefs will be looking to return from the international break with renewed energy and greater consistency.

Amakhosi will hope that a stronger defensive display and a more clinical approach in front of goal can help them secure all three points and keep pace with the teams above them in the Betway Premiership.
