“Working Every Single Day”: Cross Opens Up On Recovery And Chiefs’ World Cup Hangover

Kaizer Chiefs defender Bradley Cross has shared an update on Amakhosi’s preparations for their Betway Premiership clash against Stellenbosch FC at FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The encounter will mark Chiefs’ first outing since returning from the FIFA international break.

Amakhosi remain unbeaten in the league this season and will be looking to maintain their impressive run. They currently sit fourth in the standings with 13 points from seven matches.

“I think the preparations have been going well,” Cross said.

“We used the international break to work on the areas that needed improvement. I feel like the vibe in the team is good now, and we took some time to focus on the small details.”

Cross added that the team focused on two key areas during the break: improving their goalscoring and reducing the number of goals they concede.

“Not conceding silly goals and scoring goals,” Cross stated.

The defender also provided an update on his fitness following his return from injury, revealing that his recovery is progressing well.

Cross sustained the injury during pre-season after returning from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he represented Bafana Bafana as they reached the knockout stages.

Since then, the South African international has struggled to secure regular game time as he continues to regain full fitness and work his way back to his best form.

“I’m slowly but surely progressing with my fitness,” Cross added.

“I got the injury in pre-season, and I have been working every single day to try to get back to 100% fitness.”
