Sukazi Confirms Galaxy Rejected R4m Chiefs Offer For Mahlambi

TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has revealed that Kaizer Chiefs made a R4-million offer for winger Seluleko Mahlambi, but the proposal was rejected because it fell short of the club’s valuation.

Mahlambi was promoted to Galaxy’s first team towards the end of the 2024/25 season and made his senior debut against Orlando Pirates in May 2025. That appearance was his only outing for the Rockets during that campaign.

However, the following season marked his first full campaign with the senior team, and the young winger established himself as a regular in the side. He enjoyed an impressive season, scoring six goals and providing five assists in the Betway Premiership.

The 22-year-old’s performances also earned him the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament award after helping Galaxy reach the final, further highlighting his potential as one of South African football’s exciting young talents.

Mahlambi was also nominated for the Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season award alongside former Orlando Pirates midfielder Relebohile Mofokeng and Golden Arrows’ Isaac Cisse.

Despite his impressive campaign, Mahlambi missed out on the individual accolade, which was won by Mofokeng.

Interestingly, the talented winger is the younger brother of former Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns winger Phakamani Mahlambi, who enjoyed a trophy-winning career and was once regarded as one of South African football’s brightest young prospects.

Phakamani also won the Young Player of the Season award during the 2016/17 campaign while playing for Bidvest Wits.

Speaking on SNAWA, Sukazi confirmed that Amakhosi were the only club to submit a monetary offer for the youngster but insisted that the bid fell well short of Galaxy’s valuation.

“Kaizer Chiefs were the only club that made a monetary offer for Mahlambi. They tabled an offer of R4 million, but, in my view, it was not good enough for a player of his quality,” Sukazi said.

“For a player like that, the valuation should be at least R10 million or more. Kaizer Chiefs were not prepared to increase their offer, and they stood at R4 million.

“We do not involve players in our deals as part of swap agreements. When we do business, we prefer straightforward deals without exchanging players.”

With the proposed move failing to materialise, Chiefs strengthened their wide attacking options by recruiting two players from Stellenbosch FC.

Langelihle Phili joined Amakhosi on a permanent deal, while Faiz Abrahams arrived on a season-long loan that includes an option to buy him at the end of the campaign.
