AmaZulu has confirmed that Junior Dion and Yanga Mjoli have joined Marumo Gallants on loan until the end of the season.

Dion, who joined Usuthu from Gallants during the second half of the 2022/23 season, is returning to the club. However, he has struggled for consistent playing time at Usuthu this season and did not feature in the draw against Golden Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in the Durban Derby on Saturday.

In a recent match against Mamelodi Sundowns, Usuthu co-coaches Vusi Vilakazi and Arthur Zwane surprisingly substituted Dion in the second half and opted to play without a recognized striker, despite the absence of Etiosa Ighodaro due to a loan contract clause.

“Junior Dion and Yanga Mjoli have joined Marumo Gallants on loan until the end of the season. We wish both of them success over the next six months,” stated AmaZulu in an official club statement.

Dion previously played under Gallants coach Dan Malesela and played a key role in helping the club reach the Nedbank Cup final in the 2021/22 season, although they ultimately lost to Mamelodi Sundowns. Since joining AmaZulu, Dion has scored 14 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions.

Meanwhile, Mjoli is yet to make his competitive debut for the Durban club.
