Breaking: AmaZulu Fire Their Coach Martin
AmaZulu has confirmed the departure of coach Pablo Franco Martin with immediate effect.
Martin has been under pressure after losing all three matches in the Betway Premiership, which has seen the club lying at the bottom. He has been fired along with his assistant coach Aitor Van Den Brule.
The former Simba coach was appointed at the beginning of the 2023/24 season on a three-year deal, but he now leaves the club with a year and a half seasons to run. Usuthu lost to Marumo Gallants, Kaizer Chiefs, and Polokwane City this past weekend, which proved to be Martin’s last game in the side.
The 44-year-old Martin was in charge of 39 matches, winning 12, losing 15 and drawing 12.
Usuthu did not announce who will be the new coach in the next match, but DStv Diski Challenge coach Vusi Vilakazi is the front-runner to take over the hot seat. Whoever takes over, will have a bit of sufficient time as AmaZulu visits Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium on 25 October after the FIFA break that is coming up.
