AmaZulu Sign Namibian Striker

AmaZulu has announced the signing of Namibian international forward Elmo Kambindu from Betway Premiership side Chippa United.
The acquisition aims to strengthen the squad during the January transfer window. Kambindu was officially welcomed to the club by President Sandile Zungu after successfully completing his medicals.
The Brave Warriors striker expressed his excitement about joining Usuthu. “I want to thank the president for bringing me to this wonderful club. I’m happy to be here and excited to score more goals with the team. The support I’ve received since my arrival has been incredible,” said Kambindu. “To the fans, I encourage you to show up in numbers to support us, and we’ll deliver on the field.”
Hailing from Otjiwarongo, Kambindu becomes the eighth Namibian to don AmaZulu’s iconic green-and-white jersey, adding international experience to the squad.
However, questions have been raised about the signing of a 31-year-old striker with a limited goal-scoring record. Kambindu has scored only five goals in 45 matches for Chippa since joining in 2022 and none this season.
Kambindu’s signing follows the recent additions of experienced players Bongani Zungu and Sandile Mthethwa, as well as the promotion of reserve team talents Tebogo Mashigo and winger Siphosenkosi Ngubane.
Mashigo and Ngubane have seamlessly transitioned to the first team, becoming regular fixtures in the matchday squad.
In line with their development strategy, AmaZulu has confirmed loan moves for goalkeeper Olwethu Mzimela (23) and defensive midfielder Siyanda Hlabangeza (22) to Motsepe Championship leaders Durban City FC.
The pair will spend the remainder of the 2024/25 season with Durban City, gaining valuable game time and experience while contributing to the club’s pursuit of promotion to the Premiership.
