Bafana To Face Mozambique At Loftus Stadium

Bafana Bafana has quickly secured a friendly match against Mozambique, which will be played at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria on Tuesday, 10 June.

As previously reported by Sportswire, Hugo Broos’ side was initially set to face Namibia. However, the COSAFA Cup team withdrew, reportedly fearing a heavy defeat by Bafana Bafana after seeing the strong preliminary squad announced by the former Cameroon coach last week.

A few days ago, Broos named a 41-member preliminary squad for friendly matches, including one against Tanzania, which is scheduled to be played at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo, on Friday, 6 June.

Given the strength of the announced squad, Namibia decided to excuse themselves, opting instead to focus on the COSAFA Cup, which will now take place in Bloemfontein next month.

Bafana Bafana, who will only resume their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September, are scheduled to report for camp in Johannesburg on Sunday, 1 June, and will then travel to Polokwane on the same day.

Mamelodi Sundowns players were not selected for this squad as they will be participating in the FIFA Club World Cup, to be held in the United States of America from 14 June to 13 July 2025.

The final list of 23 Bafana Bafana players will be announced this week.
