Ben Youssef Laments Missed Opportunities In Draw Against Chippa

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef has expressed his disappointment over his team’s inability to capitalize on scoring opportunities in their 0-0 draw against Chippa United in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday evening.

Amakhosi dominated the game, creating several chances, but were unable to find the back of the net.

The draw against Chippa United was a setback for Amakhosi, who came into the game having played out a draw against Zamalek in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage match over the weekend at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

In the Betway Premiership, they last played on 4 November when they beat Orbit College 4-1 at home.

Speaking on SuperSport TV after the game, Ben Youssef acknowledged that his team couldn’t use the numerous opportunities they created.

“For us, I think we don’t have an excuse when you get a lot of opportunities,” he said.

“Even after six minutes, we got one-on-one, of which we could have scored, and that’s what, but we have to continue to work, we have to correct the same problem.

“Now we are in the last third, but we don’t score. That’s the big problem that we have, we have to continue to work.”

The draw against Chippa means Amakhosi remain in fifth position in the league standings with 23 points after 12 games played.

Amakhosi’s next game in the league will be on Sunday against TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium. Ben Youssef looked ahead to the match, adding what they need to fix ahead of this match.

“Well, coming from the players, it’s individual qualities,” he added.

“So, for us as coaches, we will continue with this individual work, we will continue working because that’s our job to fix our mistakes, and finally, it’s the job of the pair sometimes to find the right decisions in the last third.

“But we will continue to work, and we will try to improve our performance in the last third.”

This will be Amakhosi’s last game of the year, as they will take a break for the AFCON until next year.
