BFA Reach Agreement To Appoint Ramoreboli As New Coach

The Botswana Football Association has reached an agreement to appoint a South African-born coach Morena Ramoreboli as the new head coach of Botswana’s senior men’s national team, Sportswire has established.
Ramoreboli was roped in to replace French tactician Didier Gomes da Rosa on an interim basis in October 2024 and was tasked with sealing the Zebra’s 2025 AFCON qualification with the promise that he would retain the position permanently should he achieve the feat – which he did.
The 44-year-old led Botswana to their first continental showpiece since the 2012 edition after masterminding back-to-back draws against Mauritania and record seven-time champions Egypt in the final game in Cairo.
Meanwhile, Jwaneng Galaxy has been cooperative in allowing Ramoreboli to pursue greener pastures as the two parties amicably parted ways in December despite agreeing on fresh terms to rebuff interest from Betway Premiership clubs at the beginning of the season.
The Botswana champions moved on to appoint Dutch mentor Pieter de Jongh as their new coach earlier this month. This accelerated talks between the three parties regarding Ramoreboli’s move to the national team.
Now, a source close to the matter has informed this publication that the former Galaxy coach has signed a two-year deal to lead the Zebras. The BFA is expected to make an announcement imminently as they usher into a new era under the guidance of a proven winner.
Ramoreboli has won two league titles with Galaxy and an Orange FA Cup since his arrival. Additionally, he guided the club to impressive victories over continental giants such as Orlando Pirates and Wydad Casablanca in the CAF Champions League.
He also led his native country to a COSAFA Cup triumph in 2021, where they did not concede a goal.
With the 2025 AFCON draw set to take place on January 27 in Morocco, Ramoreboli and his troops will learn their fate in the 24-team tournament scheduled to run from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
