Cape Town City Appoint An Unknown Coach

Cape Town City has announced the appointment of Jan Vreman as the club’s new head coach for the upcoming Motsepe Foundation Championship season.
The 59-year-old Dutch coach steps in as City prepares for life in the second tier, following their relegation from the PSL last term via the promotion/relegation playoffs.
The club’s relegation has already led to a significant overhaul of the squad, including the departure of long-serving players Thami Mkhize and Thabo Nodada.
“A new era begins. Cape Town City is delighted to announce the appointment of Jan Vreman as the new Head Coach of the club. Welcome, Jan,” the club stated on Monday morning.
Vreman’s most recent role was with Dutch club De Graafschap, where he was in charge from July 2023 until January 2025. Aside from Sdouc Ulft, De Graafschap is where he has spent the majority of his coaching career.
While some might question Vreman’s resume for the task of immediately returning City to the top flight, only time will tell if he can lead them back to the DStv Premiership.
