Mofokeng Credits Fan Criticism For Thrashing Of Galaxy
Orlando Pirates attacker Relebohile Mofokeng said that criticism from the fans played a key role in their impressive 6-0 victory over TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.
Pirates’ victory moved them to the top of the log with 51 points from 22 games, two points ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns, who still have a game in hand.
Mofokeng delivered an outstanding performance, scoring a hat-trick that earned him the Man of the Match award.
The 21-year-old, who did not start the season in good form, now appears to be finding his rhythm in the second round of the campaign.
Pirates’ supporters expressed dissatisfaction after the 1-1 draw against Siwelele in the previous match, but the team responded by picking themselves up and delivering an impressive comeback.
Mofokeng said the criticism motivated the team, adding that they have been working hard in training to improve their finishing.
“I think the criticism is the one that boosts us,” said Mofokeng.
“During the week, we practiced our finishing because it was the one that was lacking in the previous game.
“So I think we must just improve in front of the goal, and that is what we did. I think we must keep on improving, keep on scoring, it will help us at the end of the season.”
The 2024/25 young player of the season added that he worked hard for these three goals he scored and intends to keep on doing it.
“First hat trick of the team, so I think I did very well,” Mofokeng stated.
“During the week I was practicing, after training, I was staying alone finishing. So I think I worked hard for this hat trick. I think I will keep on working on it. I’ll just have to relax in front of the goals. I think I’ll score more goals when I’m composed.”
