Carnell Eyes SA Coach As Assistant Coach

Sportswire has learned that the South African coach Bradley Carnell, currently leading Philadelphia in the Major League Soccer, has informed the management of his team that he wants to bring in Upington City coach Abraham Mongoya as his assistant coach.
Carnell, who joined Philadelphia in January this year for his second stint in the United States, has developed a penchant for South African talent.
The 48-year-old mentor previously coached St. Louis, where he signed the Bafana Bafana international Njabulo Blom from Kaizer Chiefs, and currently has Olwethu Makhanya in his Philadelphia squad.
Philadelphia will engage in talks with Upington City starting Tuesday, with the possibility of Mongoya joining the team.
Currently, Mongoya serves as the head coach of Bafana B Gucci in the Motsepe Foundation Championship and assistant coach of the Lesotho senior national team, Likuena.
Philadelphia is currently leading the Eastern Conference stream in the MLS with 63 points in 32 games, four points ahead of second-place Cincinnati.
If the talks between Philadelphia and Upington are successful, Mongoya could be available for the team’s next game against New York City at Subaru Park on Sunday.
