Chiefs Cruise Past Chippa In The Nedbank Cup

Kaizer Chiefs cruised past Chippa United as they won 3-0 to reach the quarterfinal of the Nedbank Cup at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

The first goal came in during the first half when Gaston Sirino  was left unmarked and blasted into the roof of the net, while the second goal was a penalty scored by Inacio Miguel in the second half.

The Phefeni Glamour Boys started this game on a high foot, dominating the game defensively and offensively.

Fortunately, Nabi’s side got a great goal through Sirino in the 13th minute with a great assist from Reeve Frosler.

Nabi’s side continued with their dominance in the second half, trying to score other goals. They injected some life as they introduced Mduduzi Shabalala, George Matlou, and Bradley Cross.

In the 75th minute, Amakhosi got a penalty as Stanley Nwabali fouled both Pule Mmodi and Mduduzi Shabalala in the 18-area box in quick succession. Referee Akhona Makalima pointed to the spot before Miguel converted the penalty, which was his second goal in this competition.

Pule Mmodi was the next to be on the scoresheet after the shot was spilt by Nwabali and the former Golden Arrows winger picked up the pieces.

This is an improvement from Chiefs, having been knocked out in the last 16 by Milford last season. The last time Chiefs won this competition was in 2013 under coach Stuart Baxter, when they beat SuperSport in Durban. As Chiefs reach the quarter finals, they join SuperSport United, Stellenbosch, Durban City, Marumo Gallants, and Orlando Pirates, with the draw taking place on Monday.
