The game kicked off with both Chiefs and Sundowns starting on the front foot, each determined to make their mark.
The first 20 minutes saw plenty of end-to-end action, with both sides creating scoring opportunities. It was Amakhosi who eventually broke the deadlock, with Naledi Hlongwane scoring a crucial goal with a well-placed right-footed shot inside the 18-yard box, assisted by Pheko Phago.

However, despite the end-to-end nature of the match, neither side could find the back of the net in the final minutes of the half. As the first 45 minutes came to a close, Amakhosi held a slender 1-0 lead over Sundowns, setting the stage for a thrilling second half.
The second half kicked off with a flurry of action, as both teams created numerous scoring opportunities in the first 15 minutes. However, the defenders on both sides were up to the task, and neither team could find the back of the net.

As the game entered its final stretch, Amakhosi pushed hard for a second goal. In the 78th minute, Neo Bohloko delivered a beautifully weighted cross from a free kick to Hlongwane, but the striker’s header was poor and sailed wide of the target.
However, Chiefs didn’t have to wait much longer for their second goal.
