Orlando Pirates claimed an impressive 3-1 victory over log leaders Stellenbosch FC at Isak Steyl Stadium on Saturday, with in-form Bucs forward Siphamandla Msezane netting his 13th goal of the season in the win.

Joseph Makhanya’s youthful Buccaneers are in fifth place, having accumulated 37 points after 20 reserve league outings. Furthermore, they are on a four-game winning streak as they are closing in on the top four.

For the Cape Winelands outfit, the defeat saw their run of five wins on the trot come to an end. The defending champions remain at the summit of the table with 44 points and played two games more than second-placed Kaizer Chiefs, who have amassed 42 points.

Amakhosi enjoyed a small break as they were scheduled to tackle beleaguered Royal AM in KZN, affording them ample time to prepare for their next match against Marumo Gallants. Additionally, fourth-placed SuperSport United was also off this weekend.

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns played to a goalless draw with ambitious Richards Bay at TUT Stadium. 

Masandawana are winless in their last two outings and six points behind Stellenbosch, while Bay is on 32 points in seventh place.

On the other hand, Bernard Parker’s TS Galaxy powered themselves to a commanding 5-2 victory over sixth-placed Cape Town City at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium. The Rockets are unbeaten in their last three matches after snapping a five-game winless streak.

In the fight against relegation, 14th placed Gallants made it back-to-back wins with a comfortable 4-0 triumph at the expense of Polokwane City at Dr. Molemela Stadium and pulled five points clear of Chippa United in 15th place.

The Chilli Boys, who suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Golden Arrows, are on a horrendous 18-game winless streak with their last victory dating back to August 2024. 

The clash between AmaZulu and Magesi FC was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch at Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday.
