Dortley: I Came To Chiefs To Bring The Trophies

Kaizer Chiefs defender Rushwin Dortley says playing for a big team like the Soweto Giants has a lot of pressure but to deal with that you just need to stay humble and focus on your goals.
Dortley has become a regular player for Amakhosi and Bafana Bafana since he joined Chiefs during the off-season signing from the relegated side Cape Town Spurs.
The 22-year-old has played all the official games of Chiefs and Bafana Bafana this season, partnering with seven – Inacio Miguel, Given Msimango, and Thatayoane Dithlokwe at Chiefs. At Bafana, it has been Siyabonga Ngezana, Mothobi Mvala, Grant Kekana & Nkosinathi Sibisi.
The former Spurs defender says his family also played a huge role in helping him to deal with the pressure of playing for a big team like Chiefs. “[To deal with the pressure of playing for a big club] you just need to stay humble, that’s the main thing for me,” he said.
“Just stay humble with all the media and everything that’s happening in your life. Just stay humble and stay focused on the goal because the reason why I came to Chiefs is to go forward to bring the trophies back to this big club.
“I think my family has helped me a lot as well, staying focused and I’m just that type of person who doesn’t pay attention a lot on media.”
Dortley’s Chiefs are set to play the last two games of November this week against Richards Bay and Royal AM in Polokwane.
According to Dortley, Amakhosi have been working hard during the FIFA international break preparing for these two games and they are ready to face the KZN-based sides.
“We prepare no matter what, the coach has a plan and we come here every day to train, to do the right things even though we have a game or not have a game we still prepare,” Dortley added.
“Luckily for me, I was in the national team and I got competitive games. But as for the team, the objectives stay the same, training every day and focusing to prepare for every match.
“So, I wouldn’t say the two weeks stop [FIFA international break] was a problem for us. I think the upcoming two games in Polokwane which it’s Richards Bay and Royal AM we are well prepared and ready for these two games.”
Amakhosi will first face the Natal Rich Boyz on Wednesday evening and the last game against Thwihli Thwahla will be on Saturday. Both these games will be at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
