Durban City Nedbank Cup Victory Parade: Route, Times, And Details Confirmed

eThekwini Municipality has confirmed that newly crowned Nedbank Cup champions Durban City will hold a trophy parade on Wednesday.

Farook Kadodia’s club made history by winning the Nedbank Cup after defeating TS Galaxy at the Peter Mokaba Stadium almost two weeks ago.

In doing so, they became the first KwaZulu-Natal club to win the competition, earning qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup in the process.

The R7 million prize money that comes with the Nedbank Cup title, which will likely aid the club’s continental travel budget.

They also ended a 17-year trophy drought for KZN clubs, with Golden Arrows being the last team from the province to win silverware when they lifted the MTN8 title.

“The City invites members of the media and the public to join in a historic celebration as Durban comes alive in honour of the newly crowned Nedbank Cup champions, Durban City Football Club,” eThekwini Municipality said in a statement.

“Fresh from their triumphant victory in one of South Africa’s most prestigious football competitions, the champions will take to the streets of Durban for a celebratory victory parade on Wednesday, 13 May, from 12:30.

“The parade will begin at King Dinuzulu Park and proceed through the city to the Moses Mabhida Stadium, giving football supporters and residents an opportunity to celebrate alongside the team as they proudly showcase the Nedbank Cup trophy.

“Supporters can expect an electrifying atmosphere filled with excitement and unforgettable moments as the city unites to honour a team that has brought pride and glory to Durban.

“The parade is expected to attract thousands of football fans eager to witness the trophy procession and celebrate this remarkable achievement.

“The City encourages residents to line the streets of Durban and be part of what promises to be a memorable celebration of sporting excellence, unity, and community pride.”

Durban City were also honoured by the KZN Sports Department, which hosted a gala dinner at the Southern Sun Elangeni & Maharani on Sunday.
