Galaxy Snags Key Exco From Royal AM Amid The Club’s Turmoil

TS Galaxy has capitalized on the turmoil at Royal AM by hiring two of the club’s former employees.

Sportswire has learned that former Royal AM CEO Isaac Lugudde-Katwe has been appointed as TS Galaxy’s Chief Commercial Officer. Additionally, Kuselwa Mcaba, who worked closely with Royal AM owner Shauwn Mkhize, has joined Galaxy as the head of marketing.

Lugudde-Katwe was appointed Royal AM’s CEO at the start of last season, coinciding with the commencement of a three-year deal with Msunduzi Municipality.

Previously, he was associated with Roc Nation Agency, owned by Jay-Z, in the United States. His appointment aimed to attract sponsors to the club.

However, Sportswire has been informed that his efforts were hampered by a strained relationship with Royal AM’s general manager, Richard Makhoba. Makhoba has been accused of mismanaging the club, interfering in various affairs, and providing poor advice to Mkhize.

Due to these difficulties, Lugudde-Katwe resigned late last year, also citing concerns that Royal AM might be seized by the South African Revenue Service (SARS).

In November, SARS seized Royal AM and many of Mkhize’s assets, alleging an outstanding tax debt of R40 million. This resulted in Royal AM players receiving their December salaries late, in January. Furthermore, the club’s Betway Premiership matches have been suspended by the league since December.

Jaco Venter was appointed by SARS as a curator to oversee the club’s affairs until Mkhize settles the R40 million debt.

With the deadline for purchasing the club having passed on Friday, and Royal AM facing potential dissolution, many of its staff members are seeking new employment. Sportswire has learned that one former staff member is now working as a security guard.

Fortunately, unlike some players and other staff who are currently unemployed and without income, Lugudde-Katwe and Mcaba have secured new positions at TS Galaxy.
