Good News As Kolisi Returns To Training As Boks Prepare For All Blacks Showdown
Springbok captain Siya Kolisi has returned to training, providing a boost to the team ahead of their crucial Rugby Championship clash against the All Blacks at DHL Stadium on Saturday.
Kolisi suffered an injury during the first test against the All Blacks last week but appear to have recovered sufficiently to participate in full training session on Tuesday. The Boks’ coaching staff have decided to delay the squad announcement until Thursday morning to ensure Kolisi’s availability. But the good news is that Kolisi’s right hand-side eye that was swelling has gone down significantly.
The Boks have a history of making late changes to their lineup. Last week, lock Eben Etzebeth was initially ruled out but made a surprise recovery to feature on the bench against the All Blacks.
Another player who suffered an head injury assessment (HIA) last week’s match in the second half was Kurt-Lee Arendse. His status for the upcoming match remains uncertain due to strict concussion protocols.
The Boks will also be hoping for the return of lock RG Snyman, who picked up an injury and missed the test against Australia in Perth.
A victory over the All Blacks would mark the first time the Boks have beaten New Zealand twice in a single Rugby Championship since 2009. It would also put them in a strong position to win the tournament, a feat they last achieved in 2019.
