“I’m Here To Fight”: Why Ndlovu Picked Sundowns Over Pirates In Dramatic Transfer Twist

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Siyanda Ndlovu has explained why he chose to join the Tshwane giants, saying it has always been his dream to play alongside experienced footballers.

Ndlovu recently completed his move to Sundowns after previously being heavily linked with Orlando Pirates. Reports had even claimed he underwent a medical with the Buccaneers before the transfer took a different turn.

The 23-year-old joins Sundowns from Golden Arrows, where he enjoyed an impressive spell under coach Manqoba Mngqithi.

The move gives Ndlovu the opportunity to compete for major honours, including the CAF Champions League and, potentially, the FIFA Club World Cup in 2029.

“My desire has always been to compete alongside experienced footballers,” Ndlovu said on Mamelodi Sundowns TV.

“I’m not saying that isn’t the case at other teams. I just wanted to come here and compete with the best. I’m here to fight, and I also want to be counted among the best.”

The KwaZulu-Natal-born midfielder believes the move to Sundowns will help him develop further while giving him the opportunity to achieve success and win trophies.

“I will definitely grow as a player,” Ndlovu said.

“I will win trophies here. I will achieve a lot as a Sundowns player.”

Ndlovu also vowed to work hard for his place in the team and make a meaningful contribution.

“I will give everything I have to fight for the team, fight for the badge and strengthen the team. I will work very hard and not become just a number. The guys work hard, and I must contribute by adding value,” he added.
