Maart Makes Dream Debut For SV Ried In Austrian Bundesliga

Former Kaizer Chiefs captain, Yusuf Maart, has finally made his official debut for SV Ried in the Austrian Football Bundesliga.

The 30-year-old midfielder joined Ried during the offseason from Amakhosi and got the opportunity to showcase his skills in the 2-2 draw against RB Salzburg on Saturday in their first game of the season.

Maart came on as a substitute for Martin Rasner in the 71st minute, marking a significant milestone in his new team’s campaign.

Maart wasn’t the only South African player to feature in the match, as his teammate Antonio Van Wyk started the game. Van Wyk, who joined Ried in 2024 from Stellenbosch, played for 66 minutes before being replaced by 21-year-old Peter Kiedl.

Despite the substitutions, both Maart and Van Wyk will be eager to build on their team’s performance and secure a win in their next match.

The match against RB Salzburg was a closely contested affair, with both teams creating scoring opportunities.

SV Ried’s Oliver Steurer and Zambian striker Kingston Mutandwa scored the two goals for the team, with Mutandwa having a standout game.

The Zambian international not only scored a goal but also assisted Steurer’s goal, showcasing his skill and impact on the team.

SV Ried’s next match will be against Altach next Saturday at Cashpoint Arena. Altach, who won their first game against Wolfsberg on Saturday, will be looking to continue their winning streak.
