Mngqithi Chuffed To Get Back To Winning Ways

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi felt they could have scored more against Cape Town City even though they missed many chances but were happy with the maximum points.

The Brazilians returned to winning ways with a 3-0 over Eric Tinkler’s side, with Peter Shalulile scoring a brace and Lucas Ribeiro adding the other.

The Brazilians came to this game having lost against Polokwane City over the weekend, while City played to a goalless draw against Magesi at home.

Mngqithi was chuffed by the way his side responded from City’s loss.

“Coming to the match, I think we started the game very well,” Mngqithi said.

“Good energy, good intensity, good ball speed, and I think our build-up was very spot on. We created good opportunities from most of those situations, and it was pleasing to see the team giving a reaction like this because that’s what we expected.

“In as much as we scored three and I’m happy with three, I still maintain that I think we could have scored more.
“When I look at the chances that we got, we could have done even better but I should appreciate that from the defeat we managed to win against what I believe is one of the best teams in the league.”

The Tshwane-based side is in second place with 15 points in the Betway Premiership, three points behind the log leaders Orlando Pirates who have 18 points after six games.

Sundowns will take a break in the league this weekend as they will be playing the quarterfinal of the Carling Knockout. Bafana Ba Style will visit Amakhosi at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Bafana Ba Style will face Chiefs for the second time this season as they face each other in the league game this month where Sundowns won 2-1.
