Moloisane Targets Silverware Clean Sweep Next Season

Kaizer Chiefs’ new signing Thabo Moloisane has declared that Amakhosi are determined to challenge for every trophy on offer during the 2026/27 season as they prepare for one of their busiest campaigns in recent years.

The Glamour Boys head into the new season with renewed optimism after several inconsistent campaigns that saw one of South Africa’s biggest clubs struggle to compete consistently for major honours.

Chiefs have endured a difficult decade since winning their last league title in the 2014/15 season under Stuart Baxter. His departure marked the beginning of a prolonged spell of underachievement, with the Soweto giants failing to mount sustained title challenges.

However, the club took a major step towards restoring its former glory by ending a 10-year trophy drought when it lifted the Nedbank Cup in May 2025. Despite that historic triumph, last season proved frustrating as Amakhosi failed to add another trophy to their cabinet.

There were, however, encouraging signs of progress. Chiefs secured a top-three finish in the Betway Premiership for the first time in five seasons, earning qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup. They will also compete in the Betway Premiership, MTN8, Carling Knockout and Nedbank Cup, meaning they face a demanding campaign across five competitions.

With the squad currently on a pre-season training camp in Spain, Moloisane believes the players are embracing the challenge and are determined to compete on every front.

“I would love our supporters to come out and support us in numbers,” Moloisane told the club’s official website.

“We are going to be very ambitious this season in all the competitions we are involved in, so I encourage them to be part of our journey as our 12th man. We will do everything we can to give them something to celebrate.

“I look forward to seeing them at the Toyota Cup when we take on Scottland FC in Rustenburg on Sunday, 26 July.”

The former Stellenbosch FC defender also provided an update on the squad’s preparations in Spain, saying the demanding conditions are helping the players build fitness ahead of the new season.

“We have been here for a couple of days, and it has been great to be with the guys,” he said.

“The weather has been pretty hot, but we have trained well, and working in these conditions will benefit us during the season when we play both at home and elsewhere on the African continent.

“We are building a strong sense of unity that we want to carry into the new season.”

Chiefs will begin their 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign with an away fixture against newly promoted Kruger United in Mpumalanga on 1 August before embarking on a season in which they will be expected to challenge for silverware both domestically and in continental competition.
