Moses Mabhida Stadium Confirmed To Host MTN8 Final Between Pirates And Sundowns
Durban’s iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium will host the 2026 MTN8 final when defending champions Orlando Pirates lock horns with fierce rivals Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday, 10 October 2026.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) confirmed the venue on Monday evening, with Orlando Pirates drawn as the designated home team for the showpiece clash.
The blockbuster final is a direct repeat of the 2023/24 Wafa Wafa decider at the same venue, where Pirates edged Sundowns in a dramatic penalty shootout.
The fixture will mark only the second time Moses Mabhida Stadium has hosted a match this season, following extensive pitch maintenance and turf rehabilitation.
Durban City FC previously hosted Burundian outfit Rukinzo FC at the venue in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary tie—securing a 1-0 victory—despite visible pitch discoloration at the time.
The stadium was also scheduled to host Richards Bay against Kaizer Chiefs in the Betway Premiership last month, but ongoing pitch recovery forced the match to relocate to Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu.
The October showpiece marks the 10th time Moses Mabhida Stadium will host the MTN8 final since opening its doors for domestic football following the 2010 FIFA World Cup, cementing its status as South Africa’s premier cup final destination.
