Nabi: The Club Is Adapting Very Well
Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasredine Nabi says he sees an improvement in Amakhosi despite that the results are not good since the season started.
The former Young Africans coach said that there’s been a lot of improvement in Chiefs since he joined the club, even though they are not getting good results.
Chiefs lost their first game of the year in 2025 to Cape Town City at DHL Stadium on Sunday, the seventh time they have failed to win a game in a new year.
“It’s been six months, and we feel that regarding our game model, the team has changed especially how we play,” Nabi said.
“It’s true that results we get don’t help. But if I was afraid I was going to play mid-block, play defensive, and look for counterattacks to Ashley Du Preez who is always very fast and getting results like that.
“But the theme is that we want to play an attractive football, and attractive football means a lot of risk because you have to build on that. We also have to believe in that and we going to continue and improve every day.”
Nabi, who signed six players when he joined Amakhosi last year, added that Amakhosi is working hard to sign new players in this transfer window.
“Every coach and every club in the world want to have the best players in the squad,” Nabi added.
“We feel that we have to strengthen the team, but we don’t want to throw our players under the bus and say they are not good. They are good today because they are in our team, but every transfer window you have to take the opportunity and try to strengthen the team.
“The club is working very hard to find the best opportunities possible, and we hope that everything that can improve our squad.”
Amakhosi will now face another Cape Town-based club Stellenbosch at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.
