Ncikazi Reveals Title Race Tactical Shifts
Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi revealed that the team utilized the FIFA international break to address tactical challenges as they chase their first league title since 2012.
The Buccaneers are currently embroiled in a fierce Betway Premiership title race, sitting just two points behind defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
Both sides have played 22 matches, with Sundowns leading at 53 points to Pirates’ 51.
Things will be heated on Tuesday as Pirates host Golden Arrows at Orlando Amstel Arena, looking to reclaim the top spot.
Sundowns will also have something about that as they will be in action when they visit tricky side of Durban City at Chatsworth Stadium.
“We are coming from the FIFA break, an opportunity for us to work on details, work on groups, and work on individuals. We know our challenges, and we know our strengths,” said Ncikazi.
As Pirates return to action on Tuesday to face a trick side like Arrows, Ncikazi remains focused:
“It’s a tough match against Golden Arrows, but we just have to win based on the work we’ve done with players and different groups,” Ncikazi stated, who left Arrows in 2021 for a plum job at Pirates to be the assistant.
“I think we just have to overcome that and get three points.”
