Pirates And Sundowns Match Sees Venue Changed

The Betway Premiership match between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, scheduled for 16 March, has been relocated.
Originally set to take place at Orlando Stadium on the same date, the match has been moved to the larger FNB Stadium, Orlando Pirates’ alternative venue.
This decision stems from concerns about potential overcrowding and safety issues at Orlando Stadium, given the high anticipation for the match between the top two teams in the Betway Premiership table.
The move to FNB Stadium, the venue that hosted the 2010 FIFA World Cup final, addresses these concerns.
This change follows reported concerns from stadium management in Gauteng regarding the recent Soweto Derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs. While the official capacity of the stadium is over 90,000, it was reported that the attendance exceeded 100,000.
Despite the venue change, the kick-off time remains unchanged at 15:30.
These two sides recently met a few weeks ago, with Mamelodi Sundowns defeating Orlando Pirates 4-1 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
