Ramovic: I Resigned Because I Want To Compete For Trophies

Former TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic says he is walking away from the club with his head held high after helping a few players reach the pinnacle of their careers.

Ramovic resigned midweek last week on SuperSport TV after Galaxy drew with Stellenbosch FC in the Betway Premiership match at Athlone Stadium.

He was appointed by the club in October 2021 to replace Owen da Gama, who the club had fired after they went through horrific results.

Ramovic, who had clashes with former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena last season, helped Galaxy finished sixth last season, the club’s highest finished in their history.

They also reached the Carling Knockout Cup final but lost to Stellenbosch on penalty shootouts in December in Durban last year.

“We sold 12 players to top-tier clubs, with four of them reaching the pinnacle of their careers by becoming national team players,” said Ramovic on Sportswire.

“This is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and nurturing environment that we built together.

“And not to forget that we reached the best position in the league table in the club’s history, a milestone that stands as a testament to the hard work, determination, and resilience of everyone involved-players, staff, and management.

“After much thought and reflection, I have made a significant decision about my professional future. I have been privileged to be part of this beautiful club for the past three years-a journey filled with memorable moments, growth, and success.

“Together, we overcame challenges, celebrated victories, and built relationships that I will always cherish.”

However, Ramovic explained that his decision to leave was driven by his ambition to compete for trophies. He highlighted that the club’s model, which relies on player sales for sustainability, hindered his aspirations for consistent title challenges.

“However, as I look ahead, I must consider the path that best aligns with my goals and ambitions as a coach,” he said.

“This club, which operates on a model requiring player sales for sustainability, has given me so much, but my desire to compete for trophies at the highest-level calls for a different direction, where financial stability can better support such ambitions.

“I must be true to my vision and ambition. I want to lead a team with the capability and resources to consistently challenge for trophies – a pursuit that demands a different kind of stability and long-term investment.

“I have the hunger, drive, and relentless dedication to compete at the highest level, and I am determined to see how far that passion can take me.

“This decision is not born out of dissatisfaction but out of ambition to push my limits. My relationship with the chairman (Tim Sukazi) and everyone at this club remains one of deep respect and gratitude.

“Here, I have grown not only as a coach but as a person, learning from some of the best minds in the league and facing challenges that sharpened my skills and resolve.

“I am prepared to give everything, to endure sacrifices, and to embrace the demanding path that leads to success. Winning titles is not simply an end goal – it is a testament to hard work, sacrifice, and an unyielding commitment to excellence.

“I am humble enough to know that there are many great coaches out there, all waiting for an opportunity with an ambitious club.

“But I am wise enough to know that no one works harder than I do. I am ready to pay the price of pain, to embrace the sacrifices and challenges required, all for the pursuit of those fleeting moments of happiness— winning titles. This journey, filled with sweat, passion, and resilience, is what I love and am dedicated to.”

In the interim, Galaxy has appointed Adnan Beganovic, Ramovic’s former assistant coach. Ramovic’s overall record at the club includes 34 wins, 39 losses, and 31 draws in 104 matches.
