Richards Bay Part Ways With Two Players

Richards Bay has released several players as the current season draws to a close.

Siyabonga Dube and Romaro Dlamini, both former Golden Arrows players, have been informed that their services are no longer required for the remaining matches.

Dube joined the club at the beginning of the season following a trial period. However, he faced a significant challenge in displacing first-choice right-back Lwandile Mabuya, who is currently sidelined with an injury.

Despite Mabuya’s absence, Dube failed to secure a regular starting position under co-coaches Papi Zothwane, Ronnie Gabriel, and Siboniso Gumede. The coaching trio has instead favored Fezile Gcaba, who has impressed, even contributing two goals for the Natal Rich Boys.

The 29-year-old Dube departs the club having made only seven appearances across all competitions, with his last outing occurring against Stellenbosch in February.

Dlamini, who can also operate in midfield, featured in just four matches this season, leading to the club’s decision to terminate his contract.

This is not the first time Richards Bay has made mid-season squad adjustments. Last season, they parted ways with Lucky Mohomi, Mpho Mathebula, Sakhile Hlongwa, and Sinethemba Mngomezulu.

The Zululand-based side hopes these changes will yield positive results, unlike last season when they narrowly avoided relegation through the playoffs. They currently sit 13th in the Betway Premiership table with 24 points from 23 matches, following a recent result against Polokwane City.

Richards Bay will return to action on Friday in the Betway Premiership, facing AmaZulu at King Zwelithini Stadium at 19:30.
