SAFA Announces Sponsorship With Standard Bank
The South African Football Association (SAFA) has officially announced a new sponsorship agreement with banking giant Standard Bank.
The four-year announcement was made at the bank’s head office in Rosebank, Johannesburg, on Monday. In attendance were Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos and Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis.
The sponsorship will cover all South African national teams — from junior structures through to the senior men’s and women’s sides.
Jordaan: “A Significant Moment”
SAFA president Danny Jordaan described the partnership as a landmark moment for the association.
“We want to say this is a most significant moment,” said Jordaan.
“This partnership marks the journey to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the USA.
“Banyana are on their way to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, and both of our national teams are preparing to represent South Africa at the highest level.
“Our vision goes beyond the USA, Canada and Mexico. We want the brand to be sustained. This is a celebration of a new pathway beyond the World Cup and an injection of support for the next generation of stars for Bafana and Banyana.”
Standard Bank representative Yolisa Khoza added:
“We look forward to this journey with you as partners. Welcome, SAFA.”
Standard Bank previously sponsored both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates for over a decade. They also spent 13-year association with Cricket South Africa.
National Teams in Action
Bafana Bafana will soon assemble for camp ahead of two international friendlies against Panama. The matches will be played at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban and DHL Stadium in Cape Town.
Meanwhile, Banyana Banyana are already in camp as they prepare for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco later this month.
Both national teams will now be kitted by Adidas, who replaced Le Coq Sportif as the official technical sponsor in December.
