SAFA NEC Members Fed Up At Jordaan

The pressure is increasing as bloated SAFA NEC members are up in arms as some of them have turned against its president Danny Jordaan.  

This after SAFA President Jordaan appeared in front of the court last week on charges that include hiring a private security company for his protection and a public relations company without approval from the Safa NEC.     

Jordaan, along with his co-accused Safa CFO Gronie Hluyo and businessman Trevor Neethling, were each granted bail of R20,000 after they appeared in the Palm Ridge magistrate’s court on Wednesday.   

The following day, the association released a statement that there was nothing malicious done by its president as the president can sign deals or the CEO Lydia Monyepao, without the approval of the NEC.  

The NEC members have responded to that statement in the letter signed by SAFA NEC member Gladwyn White and addressed to the Monyepao, saying what SAFA said in their statement is not something that is shared by the majority of the NEC members.  

However, the source within SAFA said Jordaan’s role is to be the president of the association and not an executive president, as the latter can allow him to make decisions alone on behalf of the association without the NEC approval. 

As the pressure is increasing on Jordaan, it will be interesting to see how SAFA reacts to all of this since the NEC members appear to have had enough.  

Jordaan, who started his first term in the office of SAFA in 2013, has been defiant that he won’t resign and these people are just disgruntled and jealous.  

Jordaan’s current term in the office will expire in 2026.
