SAFA To Reappoint Motlanthe This Week

South Africa Football Association (SAFA) is set to announce the return of advocate Tebogo Motlanthe and the announcement is set to be issued on Monday.

Motlanthe resigned last year April as a CEO and was replaced by Lydia Monyepao, who was the COO of the association.

But according to Sportswire, he is set to make a sensational come back to the association in a different capacity.

Since Monyepao is heading the CEO position, Motlanthe is rumoured that he might be appointed as the association’s COO.

SAFA president Danny Jordaan confirmed that Motlanthe was coming back and the announcement was supposed to have taken place last week.

“We will make that announcement in a week,” Jordaan said last week in Durban during the KZN Premier’s Cup in Ulundi.

When Sportswire followed on this to Jordaan on Monday, who is in Cape Town, said SAFA head of communications Mninawa Ntloko is the right person to talk.

Ntloko said the association will issue a statement in the next 30 minutes. Ntloko has since released a statement of Motlanthe’s appoint, with the advocate saying: “I am happy to be back and part of a collective that is working on making SAFA a world class organisation,” Adv Motlanthe said.

According to Sportswire sources, Motlanthe, despite having resigned last year due reports of interference in his work as the CEO, has been assisting the association in the legal advising role and played a part during the ABC National Motsepe League.

Motlanthe’s return doesn’t come as a stunning surprise. SAFA helped him to obtained the FIFA Diploma in Football Law a few years ago.

The story has since been update since SAFA announced Motlanthe’s return.
