Sekhukhune Confirm Signing Of Mojela From Stellenbosch

Sekhukhune United have confirmed the signing of Lehlohonolo Mojela, who was released by Stellenbosch FC towards the end of last year.

Mojela failed to recapture the form he showed when he joined Stellenbosch from TS Galaxy at the end of the 2024/25 season. His progress was severely disrupted after suffering an ACL injury against Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 final shortly after the season began, ruling him out for most of the campaign.

Although he returned at the start of last season, it was evident that Mojela was no longer the same player. This led former Stellenbosch coach Steve Barker to deem him surplus to requirements.

He was sidelined by the club alongside Lesiba Nku, whose future also remains uncertain after he was barred from training with the first team. With Gavin Hunt having since replaced Barker as head coach, Nku’s situation remains unclear.

Confirming the signing, Sekhukhune United said in a statement:
“Sekhukhune United confirms the signing of Lehlohonolo Bradley Mojela from Stellenbosch. The 29-year-old hails from Mokopane, Limpopo. Welcome to the Babina Noko family, ‘Jealous’.”

Mojela, whose contract with Stellenbosch was set to run until the end of 2029, scored six goals and registered one assist in 24 appearances across all competitions for the Cape Winelands club.

Interestingly, Mojela could face his former side soon, with Sekhukhune United’s first match of 2026 after the Africa Cup of Nations set to be against Stellenbosch at Peter Mokaba Stadium on 20 January.
