Stellenbosch To Host Confed Cup Match At Peter Mokaba Stadium

Stellenbosch has confirmed that they will play their CAF Confederation Cup group-stage match against AS Otoho at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on 23 November.

This follows CAF’s ruling that the club’s usual home venue, Danie Craven Stadium, does not meet the required standards to host Confederation Cup fixtures.

Athlone Stadium, which was considered as an alternative, also fails to meet CAF requirements, while the DHL Stadium is unavailable for use.

“Stellenbosch will travel to the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday, 23 November, to take on Congolese side AS Otohô in the opening match of the Club’s 2025–26 CAF Confederation Cup Group C campaign,” the club said in a statement.

“The fixture has been moved outside of the Western Cape due to the unavailability of DHL Stadium in Cape Town. Our traditional home, Danie Craven Stadium, and neighbouring Athlone Stadium are similarly unavailable as they do not meet CAF requirements.

“Kick-off is scheduled for 15h00, and tickets are available for R40.00 from Webtickets and Pick n Pay outlets.”

Stellenbosch encountered similar challenges last season, hosting their Confederation Cup matches at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium and at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria—both outside the Western Cape.

Despite the lack of home advantage, Stellies impressed as they advanced to the semi-finals before losing to Fadlu Davids’ Simba SC of Tanzania.

Stellenbosch will be joined by Kaizer Chiefs in this season’s CAF Confederation Cup group stages.

Meanwhile, the Peter Mokaba Stadium will also host the Carling Knockout final on 6 December.
