Uganda Beat Congo To Go Top Of Bafana Group

Uganda has taken control of Group K in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign by defeating Congo 2-0 at Mandela National Stadium in Kampala on Monday.
The goals were scored by Aziz Kayondo in the 21st minute and Jude Ssemugabi in the 85th minute, giving the home side a full points haul and a four-point lead in the group.
Uganda followed up this win after a 2-2 draw with Bafana Bafana at Orlando Stadium. They were unlucky not to win after scoring two goals in quick succession in the second half, but debutant Thalente Mbatha netted an equalizer for Bafana Bafana deep into injury time.
Congo entered this game with a 1-0 home victory over South Sudan on Friday.
Bafana Bafana, currently third in the group with one point, has an opportunity to claim the top spot on Tuesday if they defeat Sudan 3-0 at Juba Stadium. The top two winners in each group will qualify for the AFCON finals that will take place in Morocco next year December until January 2026.
