Williams Warns of Tougher Challenge In Congo

Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams is anticipating a more challenging match against Congo in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Tuesday (18:00).
Despite their dominant 5-0 victory in the first leg at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Friday, Williams believes that playing on home soil will give Congo a different edge.
Bafana Bafana will face Congo on a synthetic pitch at the 17,000-seater Stade Alphonse Massamba-Debat de Brazzaville. This is a departure from the PSL stadiums that the South African players are accustomed to.
Williams emphasized the importance of taking control of the game early and silencing the home crowd. “Obviously, we know that we are in a different country, and we are not at home,” said Williams.
The Bafana Bafana captain, widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers on the continent, highlighted the team’s experience in handling away matches. “We can feel it, but we have got the experience, and we know how to deal with playing away,” said Williams.
“We have gained valuable experience over the last few years. We have a group of players that have been together for three years now, so it is for us to go out there and do the best we can do, fight, challenge, and be determined in every duel and make sure we keep the fans quiet. The fans can give them energy and boost them.”
A win for Bafana Bafana in Congo would secure their place in the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco next year with two matches remaining.
