AmaZulu co-coach Arthur Zwane says one team will suffer dearly at the hands of his side as they appear to be growing in confidence under their dual coaching leadership with Vusi Vilakazi.

Usuthu were unlucky as they struck the post twice in their goalless draw against Golden Arrows in the Durban Derby in the Betway Premiership match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

It was a clash between two teams coached by co-coaching duos, both clubs sharing offices at the Moses Mabhida Stadium and training on opposite sides of the 2010 FIFA World Cup venue.

While they have much in common, including the result, Usuthu arguably edged the game. They hit the post in the first half through Hendrick Ekstein, despite Arrows goalkeeper Ismail Watenga making some saves. Nigerian international Etiosa Ighodaro also struck the woodwork in the second half after another flowing move.

“We’ve always been saying that – one team will one day suffer dearly, we will be able to bury all the chances we create,” said Zwane after the game.

“At the moment, it’s not happening. But we won’t give up on our players or allow them to lose confidence. We believe in them.

“Because we want them to understand that football is a game of mistakes. You win some, you lose some, and you draw some, like the one we drew on Saturday.

“We know deep in our hearts that this is a game we should have won, but it wasn’t to be. So, what do we do now? We move on.”

This was the first goalless draw between the two Durban sides in the league since 2012.

Usuthu, who remained 11th in the Betway Premiership table with 13 points, host Sekhukhune United at King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday (19:30).
