Singh Rediscovers Form In Cyprus

South African winger Luther Singh has regained his top form with AEL Limassol of Cyprus as he has quickly earned himself a reliable reputation of setting up goals, with his sixth consecutive assist in the club’s last league outing.
The Limassol-based team claimed a convincing 3-1 victory over Nea Salamis in the Cyprus League Relegation Playoffs, where Singh registered yet another assist to live up to the hype before he was withdrawn in the 80th minute.
With teams from positions seven to 14 grouped into their own separate relegation playoffs table, Limassol, who were 11th-placed with 24 points on the normal standings, look set to beat the drop as they are currently in second place of the eight-team mini group with 36 points gathered.
Meanwhile, for the 27-year-old, the dazzling displays mean he has now provided 12 assists and scored two goals in 29 appearances across all competitions since joining Limassol in July 2024 on a free transfer after a brief stint with Serbian club Cukaricki.
Interestingly, Singh, who was molded at Stars of Africa academy, was reportedly on the radar of a host of African clubs like Egyptian giants Zamalek SC, Ismaily SC and an unnamed club from Soweto before signing for the Cypriot outfit on a two-year deal that will keep him at the club until 31 May 2026.
It remains to be seen whether the Soweto-born attacker can play himself into Hugo Broos’ plans for Bafana Bafana with his rich vein of fine form, with the 2025 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) and potentially the 2026 FIFA World Cup coming up.
Singh has 17 Bafana caps with three goals scored since making his debut in March 2017 under Owen Da Gama in a friendly match against Guinea-Bissau. The forward’s last national team appearance dates back to September 2021 in a goalless draw against Zimbabwe in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
