Sukazi Opens Up About Three Departures

TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has shed light on the departures of three key players from the team: Sphiwe Mahlangu, Dzenan Zajmovic, and Keagan Dolly.

In a candid interview with Ikwekwezi FM, Sukazi explained the circumstances surrounding each player’s exit.

“In football, there’s a season where players leave and get new players in the team. So, it’s normal in football for that to happen, and the reasons for players to go and others to come are different,” Sukazi said.

Sukazi explained that Zajmovic’s departure was due to permit issues, which prevented him from staying with his family in South Africa.

“About Zajmovic, it’s because of the permit, and he wanted to stay with his family here in South Africa and didn’t get that permit,” he said.

“So, he told me that he can’t play while his family is not here because he really needs support from his family.

“I’m a person, and I understand someone’s feelings as TS Galaxy. We have the spirit of Ubuntu, and that’s why we decided to release him from his contract, and we agreed about that.”

Regarding Dolly, Sukazi revealed that his one-year contract had expired. The club informed him that he wouldn’t play full-time for Galaxy, but offered him a potential role as a staff member.

“About Dolly, we signed him for only a one-year contract,” he said

“His contract has now ended, and we sat down with him and told him that he cannot play full-time for TS Galaxy like starting the game and finishing it.

“Besides that, we also saw that there’s another role he can play off the field as a staff member, not as a player. So, he told us that he’s going to think with his family about this.”

Sukazi had a nuanced view of Mahlangu’s departure, who had spent five seasons with the Rockets. Sukazi claimed that he had sensed Mahlangu’s impending departure after noticing the player signing a pre-contract with another team, Sekhukhune United.

“About Mahlangu, we are coming from far with him, as you know he played for five years here,” Sukazi added.

“Sekhukhune stole him, and after our game against Pirates at Orlando Stadium. I told everyone that Mahlangu signed a pre-contract with another team. I saw that.

“So, Sekhukhune stole him, but I wish him all the best with his new team going forward.”

During his time with the Rockets, Mahlangu managed to score 13 goals in five seasons in the league.

Zajmovic scored eight league goals in 25 games, while Dolly scored only two goals in 18 games. Despite their departures, Sukazi’s comments suggest that Galaxy is focused on moving forward and building a strong squad for the future.
