Basadien Thanks Stellenbosch In Heartfelt Farewell
Newly signed Mamelodi Sundowns defender, Fawaaz Basadien, has expressed his deep gratitude to Stellenbosch FC, stating that the club will always hold a special place in his heart.
Basadien is the first new signing for the Brazilians for the 2025/26 season. His arrival aims to strengthen the left-back position, where he will compete with Aubrey Modiba, Divine Lunga, Terrence Mashego, and Asekho Tiwani.
The technically gifted left-back had an outstanding three-year tenure with Stellenbosch. During his time at the club, he made 111 appearances, contributing eight goals and 18 assists in all competitions.
He was also part of the team that won the Carling Knockout Cup in the 2023/24 season and famously scored the goal that knocked Sundowns out of the MTN8 semi-final.
In a heartfelt message on the club’s website, Basadien, a Bafana Bafana defender, expressed his thanks to the management, coaches, and supporters.
“As I bid farewell, I want to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible support, guidance, and encouragement you’ve given me throughout my journey with this team. Your unwavering belief in my potential has been a constant source of motivation, and your dedication has inspired me every step of the way,” Basadien said.
He continued, “To the management, thank you for providing me with the opportunity to grow, evolve, and pursue my passion in a supportive environment. To the coaches, your expertise, patience, and belief in my abilities have shaped me into a better player and human being.”
Addressing the fans, Basadien added, “And to the supporters, every second I spent on the pitch, I felt valued, appreciated, and respected. Your cheers, passion, and loyalty have inspired me to create memories that will last forever.”
Concluding his message, Basadien said, “This chapter may be ending, but those memories and lessons will stay with me forever. Though I am moving on to new endeavors, I will always carry a special place in my heart for the Stellies family and everyone who made this journey so meaningful.”
