Cardoso On Lorch’s Future: “A Matter Of The Past”

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has remained tight-lipped on the future of Thembinkosi Lorch, stating that the former PSL Footballer of the Season’s situation is “a matter of the past.”

Lorch spent the second half of last season on loan at Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca, where he reunited with former coach Rulani Mokwena.

Despite being on loan, Lorch had an impressive performance in the FIFA Club World Cup, scoring a goal against Italian giants Juventus. However, since the start of the pre-season, he has been training individually, away from the rest of the squad.

Cardoso was firm in his stance, lumping Lorch’s situation in with that of Peter Shalulile, Lucas Ribeiro Costa, and Khuliso Mudau.

“Like Lorch, like Lucas, like Peter, like Mudau, I’m not going to discuss it here,” he said. He added that Lorch’s situation “will also be addressed by the time and in proper time, we will have the information that will be made public, considering he is not here for sure.”

As all four players’ futures are up for the discussions, it means Sundowns will have their hands full to sort out their futures.

But what is clear is that Lorch’s future is not at Sundowns and the club is working hard to sort out his move elsewhere.

However, when it comes to Mudau, Costa and Shalulile, Sundowns will only listen to the offers that will come their way as they are still very much important in the side.

All four players were absent from the team’s MTN8 quarter-final victory over Richards Bay at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday, which has fueled speculation about their futures.
