 Chippa Reveal Ex-Pirates Striker’s Contract

Chippa United have confirmed that Sinoxolo Kwayiba has signed a three-year contract after joining from Orlando Pirates on Monday.

Pirates had announced Kwayiba’s sale to Chippa, but the latter did not disclose the length of his contract at the time.

Chippa, who are desperate for attacking firepower ahead of the second half of the season as they sit at the bottom of the table, have now confirmed that the forward has signed a three-year deal.

“Chippa United FC is delighted to welcome back Sinoxolo Kwayiba, who has rejoined the club on a three-year contract, making his return a permanent move,” the club said in a statement.

“Kwayiba comes home to the province at a critical moment for Chippa United FC. We believe his presence will be instrumental in helping us turn the corner and restore pride across the province.

“The club would like to thank Orlando Pirates for their professionalism and cooperation in concluding this transfer. We welcome Sinoxolo back with open arms and wish him every success in the red and white.”

It is rare for a PSL club to reveal the length of a player’s contract, as such details — including salaries and transfer fees — are usually kept confidential.

Kwayiba’s move comes just six months after joining Pirates from Chippa during the off-season.

However, he struggled to make the grade at the Buccaneers, featuring in only four matches across all competitions despite Pirates’ success in winning both the MTN8 and the Carling Knockout Cup.

The 25-year-old returns to Chippa, where he previously made 43 appearances in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing two assists.
